Claude Schwab
 
Claude Schwab is a Partner at Heidrick & Struggles in the Financial Services Practice and the U.S. Hedge Fund Sector Head. Claude works alongside functional, industry and geographic hedge fund search consultants to help develop and grow hedge fund investment teams and organizations nationally and globally. He spends most of his own search effort on portfolio manager and senior analyst/portfolio manager hires across a range of strategies and asset classes.

Prior to joining Heidrick & Struggles, Claude founded and ran Schwab Enterprise, LLC, a boutique firm headquartered in New York City and specializing in hedge fund and fund of hedge fund search.

Prior to founding his own firm, Claude built and ran the hedge fund practice of one of the largest alternative asset management boutique search firms in the U.S. Claude also authored the first compensation report written specifically for hedge fund professionals and the leading hedge fund career guide, currently in its fourth edition. Claude's earlier career focused on media venture capital and media strategy consulting.

Claude earned an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, a master's degree from Columbia University, and a bachelor's degree with honors from the University of Pennsylvania.


 
Solan Schwab

Solan Schwab is a Principal with the Heidrick & Struggles Financial Services Practice, specializing in the U.S. hedge fund sector. Solan spends most of his search effort on senior infrastructure and portfolio manager hires across a range of strategy and asset classes.

Prior to joining Heidrick & Struggles, Solan helped run Schwab Enterprise, LLC, a boutique firm headquartered in New York City where he specialized in hedge fund and fund of hedge fund search for some of the leading and most well-established funds. Schwab Enterprise focused on all functional areas within funds, with special emphasis on portfolio managers and senior infrastructure personnel.

Prior to working at Schwab Enterprise, Solan spent six years as an attorney at Skadden, Arps in its Mergers and Acquisitions Department.

Solan received a J.D. (cum laude) from Georgetown Law School and a bachelor's degree from the University of Chicago (Phi Beta Kappa).

Nick Lord

Nick Lord focuses on infrastructure investment and hedge fund searches within Heidrick & Struggles' global Financial Services Practice based in New York.

Over the past three years Nick has completed a number of senior searches for some of the world’s largest financial institutions such as JPMorgan, UBS, Fortis, Credit Suisse, Citigroup, Lehman Brothers and Legg Mason.

He has also worked with some of the leading hedge funds in the world such as Och Ziff, Apollo, Highbridge Capital Management, Permal and Broadpeak.

Nick joined Heidrick & Struggles in 2005 from the world of journalism. He had been the Editorial Director of FinanceAsia, a leading Asian publishing group headquartered in Hong Kong. He joined the company in September 1997 as Deputy Editor of FinanceAsia Magazine and was part of the investor group who bought the company in 1998. He went on to become Editor of the magazine and then Editor of FinanceAsia.com – the daily, web-based news service that was built off the success of the magazine.

Nick has also worked for Transmarket LLC, a Chicago-based hedge fund operating in London, where he traded futures, options and government securities.

Nick holds a BA (Hons) in Modern History from Oriel College, University of Oxford in the UK

Chad Astmann

Chad Astmann specializes in searches for investment banking, capital markets, and investment management professionals. He has completed senior banking projects for multinational as well as boutique investment banks and has successfully completed projects in both equity and fixed income capital market groups related to structuring, origination, and distribution. He has also conducted numerous portfolio manager and analyst searches for both traditional and alternative asset management firms.

Before joining Heidrick & Struggles, Chad was a consultant at a multinational recruitment firm focused on placing operations and front office professionals at leading investment banking firms. Prior to his career in search, Chad was in the Equity Capital Markets group at Merrill Lynch.

Chad is currently completing his master's degree at New York University and holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from Ithaca College.

Maria Rumely

Maria Rumely is an Associate Principal in the Wall Street office of Heidrick & Struggles and focuses on searches in the hedge fund space. Maria has also worked on a variety of assignments within capital markets, investment banking, sales and trading for the firm's leading clients.

She specializes in the recruitment of senior professionals in portfolio management, trading and research roles across strategies including equities, credit, rates and event driven. Prior to joining Heidrick & Struggles in 2001, Maria worked at Viacom in Human Resources.

Some of the recent searches Maria has executed include a number of hedge fund and hedge fund related assignments including long short equity sector specific Portfolio Managers and Analysts, Distressed Portfolio Managers and Analysts, Fixed Income Traders, Senior Prime Brokerage and Portfolio Finance roles as well as searches for Risk Managers and Human Resources professionals.

Maria received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Tulane University.

Laurie Thompson

With 9 years of executive search experience, Laurie Thompson conducts mid to senior level searches for traditional and alternative investment management companies. She has successfully placed professionals in general management positions, as well as within investments (CIO, Strategy Heads, Portfolio Managers, Analysts, Product Development) and distribution (Marketing, Sales, Client Services and Investor Relations).

Representative clients include funds of hedge funds, endowments, foundations, family offices, single and multi strategy hedge funds and traditional asset management firms.

In addition, Laurie has developed a sub specialty in Talent Management, and has helped several hedge fund clients build their human resources and in-house recruiting efforts. From 2002 until 2005 Laurie was responsible for the recruitment, training and development of associates within the Wall Street office of Heidrick & Struggles.

Prior to joining Heidrick & Struggles in 2002, Laurie worked in fundraising for Big Brothers Big Sisters and for two boutique executive search firms focused on investment banking, equity research and capital markets. Prior to her career in executive search, she received an MA from Ball State University and a BS from SUNY College at Buffalo. During this time, she worked with Applied Materials and Dupont to contain health insurance costs, increase productivity and promote a positive corporate culture as part of their employee wellness programs.

Laurie has been an active volunteer with New York Inner City Outings, the youth outreach program of the Sierra Club, since 2000.

Tina Hsiung

Tina Hsiung is an Engagement Manager in the Global Financial Services Practice and is a member of the Hedge Fund specialty practice. Tina has successfully completed searches for a diverse hedge fund client base across all strategies, ranging from equity long/short, event-driven, and deep value to distressed debt and relative value strategies. She specializes in conducting searches for investment professionals (Managing Directors, Senior Analysts, Analysts), and distribution (Marketing, Investor Relations, Client Service, Business Development).

Prior to her tenure with Heidrick & Struggles, Tina was a Vice President at Schwab Enterprise, a boutique search firm focused exclusively on hedge fund recruiting. She specialized in recruiting for senior analysts, marketers, and investor relations. Tina joined Schwab Enterprise after two years in Citigroup’s Fixed Income Capital Markets group, where she focused on investment grade healthcare and industrial companies. Prior to Citigroup, she worked as an investment banking analyst at UBS Warburg.

Tina graduated from The Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania with a BS in Economics concentrating in Finance and Management.

Rachael Timinsky

Rachael Timinsky is an Senior Associate in the Wall Street office of Heidrick & Struggles and focuses on searches in the hedge fund space.

Prior to joining Heidrick & Struggles in 2008, Rachael was a Senior Associate at Schwab Enterprise. Here, she focused on recruiting for traders, fund of funds analysts, and operations. Rachael came to Schwab Enterprise after working at Evans Heintges Architects as an Assistant Controller/Project Coordinator.

She is a graduate of Princeton University where she earned a BA in Classics
